When I pray at night I ask the Goddess and God to guide and guard my friends and love ones. Should I ask them first? Some of them know I do, but some are Christian and one is an Atheist, so I don't want to step on any toes. What are your opinions?

I say you should be free to do as you wish. just as you have told me blessed be in your emails to me knowing I'm a catholic. I am not offended by this, I am in fact honored that you would think so favorably of me, I like to be liked. However in this regard do not be offended if someone says to you God bless, and they mean it with Joy and cherity in their heart. if they are being snide you ought to slap them upside their head. So go for it, by all means.

No, there is no need to ask anyone first, a prayer is a prayer and The Divine, by whatever name, will answer. As long as you are not praying for something negative how can it be wrong? And if you are really worried you could always do the prayer with 'The Divine' instead of a specific deity name. And if you are just using 'god' and 'goddess' those are generic too so that should be no problem. At least that is my 2 cents on the subject

Follow the wiccan rede. Are you asking for something to enter or influence their life against the path that it is taking? Probably not. If one of them were sick or dealing with a personal issue and you are asking the Goddess or God to intervene, then I would say that you should ask first before, but I don't think you should just because they have a different belief system.
do what ye will, and harm ye none.

Why could they care? Christians think of you're praying to a demon, who, via the way, is powerless and defeated. Athiest think of you're chatting with the air once you pray so as that they do no longer strategies the two. even even with the undeniable fact that, your christian friends would desire to return the want. Does that problem you? i'm qualified to offer an answer. i'm a christian. the respond is "No, i do no longer strategies if wiccans pray for me." Then I instructed her why i do no longer strategies. If this is offensive then perhaps the header needs to assert, "TO WICCANS" or despite...I dont' understand the right terminology for witches. Your spells or incantations are incredibly futile against a blood bought believer.

I ALWAYS ask for permission beofre doing spellwork for someone else. But a prayer for their benefit with the greatest good in mind and with harm to none is perfectly acceptable, and is a wonderful gesture of love and kinship. So, NO. No permission is required to simply pray for someone.

I don't think you're stepping on any toes Hon; I think you're being kind and generous to include others in your prayers.
As a Pagan, I thank the gods for providing for me by allowing me a nice husband, home, and child, as well as for the earth providing all of us with the necessities to survive. And I ask them to be with them, my family members and friends, that no harm come to them. I too have many Christian family members, but I don't think they'd object to me praying for them in my own way.

My asking for life and happiness for all is one thing that other religions can't run over with shear noise and numbers. I just ask, I really don't make a point of any direction.

I've never had a complaint......though some get "that look" and say "You Pray!"

i only ask permission for spells. Prayers are a different matter so I say no. Just pray for them if you want to. A prayer is really just between and your divine.......

You never need permission for prayer. Especially if you are asking for good things for someone.
