It was home to the New York Cosmos in the early 1970s and there had been one-off exhibition (friendlies) played on the field.

Hopefully it was put to such a good use. Baseball is such a terrible sport. Football (not American) is such a glorious one. How can they coexist in one world? It baffles me.
