you could do a paper mache balloon thing. i think thats what you calll it. you just put newspaper on an outside of a balloon with some type of putty stuff and then let it harden and dry. then stick a sharp object suck as a fork, pin, or needle and pop the balloon that should have been under the newspaper.
then just cut that in half?
idk if this helped any and i'm sorry if i didn't help!
idk if it will work!
i wish you luck and hope your project turns out great!!!!!!!

Honestly - it's very difficult to make a convincing sphere with just paper - unless you create some sort of shell out of papier-mache and have the time needed for this to dry out. Even then, It will still look kinda odd. Best use a table-tennis ball or something similar. That said - if it's the walls of the nucleus - it doesn't have to be perfectly round.
The best 3D image I've seen on the web can be found at:

If you use it - remember to reference it in your project notes.

Invert a bowl, cover it with plastic wrap and do papier mache over it. After it's dry, slip it off and even up the edges if necessary. The plastic wrap will probably stay inside. If you need to close up the open side, carefully tape some paper over it.
Or you can use a basketball and only cover half of it.
