Don't worry, I haven't planned on kidnapping anyone but I was just wondering that if you were locked in the trunk of your car and didn't have your keys (just simple small items you usually take and perhaps to make it more interesting women's items like nail varnish, lipstick, mascara, a file for your nails!) would you be able to open it?

I would think so since the mechanism should be on the inside but I was wondering how.

Yes you can open the trunk from the inside, it is a requirement in later model cars to have a bright glow in a dark lever or handle.

In older cars you could also, but you would have to know what you were doing and some light!!!

lots of newer cars and prolly some older ones have a latch thingy on the roof of the trunk that you can actually pull on to open it up for the inside, like a safety release. you could always try kicking out the backseat to get into the car as well. i dont think youd be able to pick your way out of it tho if you were really stuck. i suppose if you examine the little mechanism where the trunk closes you might be able to see exactly how the lock closes around the bar part, and if you jammed something in there it could open it up. its prolly different from car to car since not all the locks have the same structure

if its a ford, you could just look at it and concentrate hard enough and it might just break LOL

It is now a requirement to have an emergency opening device in the trunk. It has been since somewhere around 2000. There should be a reflective glow in the dark tag with a wire on it, just pull the cord and the trunk will unlock.

Older cars didn't have this option, you would most likely have to know how they worked and have some light to see what you were doing to force the latch open.

good luck.

Most newer cars have well marked release handles that hank down from the inside of the trunk lid - My Ford Fusions does anyway. My friends and I joke about it, bet if I got I locked in there I would be happy it was there

The lock may either be picked with a utensil--Always leave a knife in your trunk--or is easily broken by kicking it from the inside.

i think it is a requirement of new cars to have a bright orange lever or handle in the boot to open it. because of kids getting stuck in there
i suppose the mafia will now be using older cars
