If people toked instead of drinking, they'd just sit on their couches and watch movies, instead of having trouble with drunk driving, and drunken brawls and attacks. Football crowds would also be much more civil if everyone got high instead of drunk before the game. Instead of screams of "I'll tear off your ******* head!" there'd just be lots of giggling.
When I pass a toker on the street, I feel totally safe: most high people are harmless. When I pass a drunk on the street, I make a wide circle around him.
Why isn't this happening?

Yes I know driving while high is as dangerous as driving while drunk, but most tokers I know would rather stay on their couch, while some drunks I know say things like "Hey guys, let's go put skidmarks on somebody's lawn!"

Marijuana in moderation is okay. I despise alcohol. I've seen first hand what happens with alcoholics everyday; it's not pretty. My dad was an alcoholic. He got over it and hasn't drank in 10yrs. He was bad to. He drank and drove. When I smoke; I smoke with friends in a safe place. It's a good social thing. Plus it helps me with stress.

I think all drugs should be available on prescription that would immediately remove the profit from the producers, transporters and suppliers of the drugs and stop the drugs trade dead. The tax we could charge would help pay for any treatments required.
I don't really care if some silly idiot wishes to destroy his life with heroin or crack as long as he does not break into my house to finance his habit. Also if there was no profit in the trade you would not get pushers giving the drugs to school kids to try and get them hooked

Although I do think marijuana should be legalized, if alcohol and tobacco are legal, driving after you've been smoking pot is dangerous just like drinking and driving. Marijuana can also produce erratic behavior in some people. Although I think marijuana is the lesser of the two evils, its far from harmless.

Well, banning alcohol didn't work back in the early 1900's when prohibition was in place and nowadays there would be such a large black market for alcohol that people would get drunk no matter what.
Nevertheless, I do agree with you about legalizing certain "recreational" drugs. Nothing like cocaine or heroin, but if the gov't could regulate drugs like marijuana society might be better off.

We'd probably be much more safe and happy.
http://touchthefuture.org/services/bonding/main.htm This guy has some things to say about a society's choice of acceptable drugs and the effects on violence or non-violence. A very interesting web site.

Alcohol should be banned but i know a couple of people who are very paranoid on cannabis, they can get quite aggressive with it.
So maybe a doctor could prescribe it and see if it is ok for that person,if not they could have Valium(only jokin)

I agree with Frizzle. Cannabis makes the smoker mentally ill. If the user were open minded enough to read up on it they would be better able to make an informed choice. May God protect you.

Maybe - but also think there would be a massive increase in mental health issues (as opposed to physical health issues from alcohol issues!)
