Circulation slows down to that area because of the added pressure on the veins causing them to ache. Its normal to happen.. sometimes it may feel like you've ran a marathon.. I just try warm baths and Tylenol if Im having a really bad day. Oh and lots of water.

Is your blood pressure ok? Try cutting your salt intake--maybe it's water weight. The itching at night, I don't really know--is it restless leg syndrome?

Anytime anyone gets a sports injury, sprain, ache, I tell them to follow the RICE method

R - Rest
I - Ice (20m on/20off)
C - Compression
E - Elevation

If there's a contained area you can apply ice to, I'd advise it. But for you, I'd elevate my feet above my heart as often as possible, and use ACE bandages to wrap around the aching area. The ACE bandages, applied almost loosely, will keep extra water from settling in your legs and I'm working on the assumption that the water is what's causing the ache.

Try it. You've nothing to lose.

Congratulations!!

Crappy circulation in the legs is common in women... but even more common in pregnant women. You need to get those babies moving! Start taking a walk every morning. Drink more water (you're thinking, "Sure, and start the peeing every 5 minutes early? Yeah right!") but I promise it's good for you. You can also ask your doctor if there are any supplements you can take (ask about coq10) that might help with circulation. I know you won't be allowed to take the "restless leg syndrome" stuff.

Oh, and pull the "poor pregnant woman" card. Make people give you leg massages!

it could be a form of restless leg syndrom. You can get it because of extra fluid that your body has during pregnancy. It puts pressure on the siatic nerves that run down your legs and causes the achy, itchy, pins and needles feelings. Try to take a warm bath before bed and see if that helps. If it really gets bad, talk to your doc about it. Also if your not already, sleep on your left side with a pillow between your legs, it really helps with circulation to remove the excess fluid buildup. Hope this helps you...

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and I ahve had aching legs for the past 10 weeks.

Try to keep them more elevated in bed - it's hard to put a pillow in between them - sometimes it works, but often you wake up in the middle of the night and the pillow has moved!

I am also really itchy, down my legs and feet, my hubby keeps telling me to 'stop straching' but it's really hard!

Not long to go for you so keep your legs elevated as much as possible and try not to have one leg resting on the other one!!

hey I'm 21weeks pregnant (not as far as you lol) and I get aches in my knees...and my back especially when I sleep and I can't get comfortable in bed!!! It'll just be the added pressue on you body and your circulation..when u sit down make sure your legs are on a stool or puffy thing so that your legs are raised and your circulation can flow easier xx

Itchy legs is a sign of something (but i can't remember what) during with pregnancy. I remember a woman was seeing the nurse at my doctors for itchy skin but i'm not sure what causes it. Speak to your midwife.

poor circulation most likely. Put your legs up more (and get your hubby to massage them.

It is hard for your body to accomodate all of the blood your body is producing.
