i am trying to get a brokers license to help my inlaws to expand their business and we just dont know how to go about getting one

The term broker just means you're an intermediary. What is it you intend to be a broker of?

Depends on the kind of broker. Real Estate. Automobile. There are scads of them. In any event, each state has a department that regulates that industry. Got to your state's website, find the department's webpage. Instructions will be there.
