I really like dramactic novels. I just finished this book called "The Memory Keeper's Daughter", and I really enjoyed it. I really want to start another book sometime, but I have no idea where to start. Please help!

Cormac Mc Carthy's The Road. It won the Pulitzer Prize. It was wonderful. It is a book you will remember for a long long time. Pax - C

I liked "The Memory Keeper's Daughter," too. It seems to be one of those books that are quickly liked or disliked.

Anyway, have you read "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd?

There is also "The Shipping News," much better than movie (I thought) and winner of a few awards for Annie Proulx.

"Ellen Foster" by Kaye Gibbons is called, on the cover, 'a southern Holden Caulfield, tougher, perhaps as funny...' I just found that it had a great first sentence that pulled me in to a good, fast read; it's a slim book.

"She's Come Undone" by Wally Lamb shows that Mr. Lamb can write about girls and women with the best of them, it seems.

"The Hours" by Michael Cunningham is terrific...I like all of his books, which aren't really very many.

"All the Pretty Horses" got an award for Cormac McCarthy, too. A great story about growing up and... well, a lot!

That's about it that I can think of right now that may be good to read after "Memory Keeper"... dramatic novels, as requested!

. Go ask the Pros! That is the librarians, the older, the better.
Tell them 3-4 books that you really like and they'll find similar books. ' or similar authors.
OR you could go to Alibris or Amazon, whatever, and they'll tell you about similar books.

For example, people who liked the 'The Memory Keeper's Daughter' , also liked:
"...Our Special Child
by Bette M. Ross, .....
... Jon O: A Special Boy
by Elaine Ominsky , ...
.... Karina Has Down Syndrome: One Family's Account of the Early Years with a Child Who Has Special Needs
by Carol Bower (Foreword by), Cheryl Rogers , ....
...
The Secrets of a Fire King: Stories by Kim Edwards (Paperback - May 29, 2007) , ...
... My Sister's Keeper: A Novel by Jodi Picoult , ...
... Water for Elephants: A Novel by Sara Gruen , ..etc.

Read the Cirque du freak series, the Demonata series, or Airborn and Skybreaker.

All are very good books with good plots and lots of action, but the Demonata series is quite gory, so be warned. Amazing books though.

It sounds like two books right up your alley are Life Expectancy and Odd Thomas, both by Dean Koontz.
