I'm a pretty much new snowboarder i have snowboarded before on rental stuff, but don't know any boarding terms at all. Looking for not a totally terrible board / equipment, something that will last a couple of years. I'm 5'10" about 150 lbs

I am about your size and I tried several different boards when I was learning (K2, Rossi, etc.) but the one I liked the best and ended up buying was a Ride Control 158.

It was a little advanced for me when I was first learning, but I quickly grew into it and it has been a great board - I still ride it on certain conditions.

As mentioned, you can get last year's model for a lot less - this board for around $150 to $200 on a pre-season sale.

Good Luck

As you are a begineer rider you would be best off with an all mountain board, which can be used for all types of riding freestyle, freeriding and powder. The sort of length you need to go for is around a 156. The boards ive listed below will suit you and your level of riding.
Forum Recon
Nitro Revolt
Gnu Carbon High beam
Burton Elite
All the boards ive listed above are easy to ride and learn on, but are also progressive enough to last you a while. Boards like the Custom and Agent are good but arnt really suited to a begineer rider. Alot of people have suggested getting second hand stuff which would be a cheap option but most entry level boards are quite cheap anyway so if you have the money you may as well get a new set up, Good luck.

Try looking on eBay, or at a shop with a good selection of used boards. Try to buy something that is in fairly good shape though. I wouldn't suggest going out and buying a new board, unless you can afford it. But for the average person just starting out, it is better to get a less expensive, used board.

A 156 Burton Custom would work
156 Rome Agent
I would look for something used or last year. Something allong those lines

Those two boards are suggested assuming your foot size is not over a 11.5 or 12

Get a used burton, but in good condition, those are usually good starting boards, theyre good all around so you can get a new one later once you know your style and stuff.
