having worked in a large company for 4 consecutive years without having a day off sick. Am i intitled to ask for the sick pay which i have accumulated before i live. If i dont use it can i have a sort of refund.

I believe that if you "accumulate" sick days based upon some formula such as "1 sick day for every 10 days worked" then federal law requires them to pay you. If you are given sick days every year, then you lose them.

I don't know who was rating all of the previous answers as "thumbs down"-- they are exactly right:

Paid time off leave is regulated by the company (or a union contract, or your personal contract, if you actually have a contract for employment!). If they have a policy to pay for your accumulated paid time off, then you can. You need to check your contract (if you have one) or your company handbook.

Each company / agency has its own policy. . At my place people who retire get 20% of their accumulate sick time in cash

You are entitled to get paid for days worked. No company owes you anything be glad you were employed for 4 years. If more people would take responsibility for themselves, and not try to get something for nothing we all would be a lot better off. I really don't know were this sense on entitlement comes from .

There is no law requiring them to pay you sick time when you quit. You may be entitled by company policy.

Vacation pay yes but sick pay no. This is a quirk they give you and not something earned.

No you are not entitled unless it is addressed under a union contract...
