This is a micro SD card.

SD memory comes in standard, mini and micro. Electrically they are all the same, but physically they are different sizes, micro being the smallest (surprise!)

Most computers systems or memory card readers do not have a slot to fit a micro (or mini) SD card, but may system and most card readers do have a standard SD card slot. So the adapter allows you slide your micro card into the adapter and then plug that into the computer/card reader and look at the data on the computer.

The dual adapter just adds an extra layer. You plug the micro card into the mini adapter and then you can use it in a device that wants a mini SD card, or you can plug these into the standard adapter and use it in a device that wants a standard SD card, or read it on your computer.

BTW, $40 for a 1GB card is a bit high.

Staples seems to be doing a 2GB for under $40:

Check you local store.

There are three types of SD memory cards. Functionally they are all the same but are different considerably in size. These Are:-

SD memory card (the biggest)
Mini SD memory card (the middle size)
Micro SD memory card (the smallest)

Every card is compatible with a certain set of devices like digital cameras, mobile phones, mp3 players, Voice recorders, etc.

To solve this size difference issue they are currently selling the Micro SD memory card with two adapters (dual adapter) to fit in SD and Mini SD memory slots. These adapters are pieces of plastic with some connectors in which the Micro SD memory card can be fitted. It will then (with the adapter) would fit in different devices using SD or Mini SD memory cards.

Accordingly, you would be paying a very little more in price to get the adapters, but they will fit your card in other devices that you might have or might buy in future. If you bought the adapters separately they would cost you more.

The answer is, if the price, type and size are ok then buy it…. Good luck.

There are a couple of a different kinds of SD memory cards. The dual adapter does exactly as it's name states, it adapts your card to the different kinds of SD cards there are. That being your standard SD card and MicroSD card. Basically it means that you can use it on your phone and on your computer, or whatever other device will accept MicroSD or SD cards.

It's just a micro SD card that comes with an SD adapter. This means you can use it in a Micro SD slot or a regular SD slot.
