I'm cool, today some guy told me to go back to Mexico. I was surprised, my family has been working Califoria, up and down the coast, since it was Mexico. I just ignoed him. Jerk. But it used to be rare that these things happened to me, now its not so rare. Yeah, I'm pretty peeved. I espeacially hate those losers who tell me, why are u Mexican-American, why not just American? Jerks. So how's it going.

I'm not mexican but my boyfriend is. He speaks english but lived in mexico for 20 years and has only been here for 2 or so so he's still got a pretty thick accent. people sometimes think he can't speak english and start to say some pretty rude things then he'll say something to them in english and that shuts them up pretty quickly! He's used to subtle remarks and discrimination but the only time he's been outright targeted for being mexican was by the police. He always used to ask me what my parents thought about me hanging out & dating a mexican guy & it was hard for me to convince him that they didn't care about his race, my mom just hoped my spanish grade would go up by spending more time with him!

I think it all depends on where you live & who you're around. unfortunately, there are a lot of ignorant, racist people in the U.S. today..

I think Republicans like to be racist and perpetuate stereotypes and pollute people's minds with misconceptions, all for their own gains.

I have a story:-)

My friend was working in our local Congressman's office, and her job was to take calls from the constituency about issues. An older-sounding lady called in and started going off about Mexicans and how they're ruining this country and they should all go home. She was being really rude and hurtful. So my friend very calmly said "Ma'am, do you realize you are talking to a Mexican-American woman?" The woman stuttered for a minute, then said, "well it's ok dear, because you speak English." My friend responded, "Ma'am, my grandmother was born and raised here in America and doesn't speak fluent English." The lady hung up!

There are a lot of stereotypes and people who have an opinion based on them. I would respect people's opinions more if they tried to be informed, but they just listen to Fox news and think they know what they're talking about.

Not Mexican, but it must be pretty good, since one in seven
Mexican citizens reside in the USA.
