Drinking alcohol reduces the effectiveness of the antibiotics. If you drink, you run the risk of staying sick or needing another course of antibiotics. But, at the same time, it's possible that nothing happens. It's your choice :)

Drinking on antibiotics can make you feel very sick and could result in vomiting. It has nothing to do with lowering the effectiveness of the drug.My GP told me this only last week and also told me a lot of people wrongly believe the drugs won't work when drinking alongside them. It's up to you really if you want to risk feeling sick.I know if it was me a I would have a little beer as it probably would be okay as long as it was limited.

You can drink whle on antibiotics but the problem is that the drink will weaken the antibiotic. If you are on the pill do not take any chances while on antibiotics as you could fall pregnant.

Flagyl (metronidazole) is an antibiotic which cannot be combined with alcohol. There are a couple of others... I think they're mostly cephalosporins.

Flucloxacillin is not commonly used in the US (where I am) so I couldn't say anything about how it goes with alcohol. Why not phone your pharmacist (American-speak for the chemist)?

i've always drank on antibiotics-2 or 3 doesnt seem too many.but take it easy.i think the drink gets to you more.and i really wouldnt think of driving if you've only had one cos it might be a strong mix.you could call the doctor and ask or read info inside the pack.just take it easy.

Drinking does not reduce the effectiveness of antibiotics. The reason you are instructed not to drink is because the medicine dehydrates you.

No you really should not drink, my father in law drank whilst he was on penicillin and is now allergic. I have done, but is an individual choice, the medical proffession will definelty say no.

Probably would not cause a problem. It weakens the medicine and could cause an interaction. It is safest not to drink, but probably won't kill you if you have a beer.

there's one particular antibiotic that will make you VIOLENTLY SICK if you drink ANY alcohol whilst on it, you'll know if you've got it as it will say on the label. The other ones just don't work as well.
