...who seem to agree that paedophilia and childkillers do not deserve the death sentence. Would they like to please stand up and post their reaons why they disagree? Or are they content to hide behind the old 'thumbs down' rule?

For those that have posted already. Are any of you actually parents? Do any of you know what it's like to have an innocent child who relies and trusts on you solely and how it must feel for the parent when that innocence is taken away? F**k sake, obviously not.

Of f*** off snaffle, don't confuse the issue and play devil's advocate bringing children killing children into it, you know exactly what type of people and which type of crime this question is all about so don't treat me like some kind of c**t! The question is what it is and is very clear.

because death is too easy
i would prefer they rotted in jail and let the other inmates hand out some brutality

why should they get a easy way out when the victims and family have to suffer for the rest of their lives

I am NOT against the death penalty
I just don't think it fits the crime in this case

Edit
I am a parent
why do you assume that im not?
Is it because you disagree with my view therefore i must NOT have children in your eyes?

Well because of my faith and what I personally believe I don't think death is the easy way out as some do. I believe death to be an eternal sentence whether it be heaven or hell. I sit here and say I am against the death penalty because I am pro-life but as someone else said I may quickly sing a different tune if it were my child. Not sure how I would feel. I do feel that sex offenders get to light of sentences especially when it comes to children. I think our justice system disregards the life of a child when it comes to murder or a sex offense. A couple years ago there was a child that was murdered by their parent near me. The parent got 5 years in prison. During this same time a different man got 15 years for abusing his pets severely. Which I also disagree with but why was this type of justice served for the dogs that were abused but not the child who was murdered?

I don't agree with the death penalty for all as there were mistakes made in the past, when there is no doubt whatsoever that a person IS guilty then yes death sentence. It's all well and good thinking that if they are in prison for a long time possibly their lifetime they are getting punished only I don't agree with that, these people are in a separate part of the prison to protect them! from other prisoners they are fed good meals and watch satellite TV and if they are ill there is no waiting list for them they are seen asap. If it was hard labour and none of the privileges that they do get the yes it's a punishment. Anyone who does what some of these animals do do not have a conscience so they don't care.
I'm a parent and grandparent

I'm standing and hereby state that i do not agree with the death sentence. For 2 simple reasons :
1. One should not stoop down to the same lowlife level as the criminal.
2. Its no deterrent as statistics in countries where public executions are rampant, show.

Elvis, i hear you clearly on the horrific misery that must haunt parents of children whose lives & innocence have been brutally snatched away...i'm a Mum & such a situation is just too evil to even imagine...But one must realise that capital punishment is never a solution.

i say lock them up forever & let them clean the sewers.
That way we don't stoop to their level & they earn their sorry keep for the rest of their lives.
And guess what? Life imprisonment is worse, far worse, than dying, which is too easy for a crime this vile.

There are differences beween pedophilia and ( child) murder .
Pedophilia ( Child abuse ) is defined differently in different times , different cultures , and different circumstances . For instace Thomas Jefferson would be considered a child abuser by todays standards due to the age of his wife . So would many Muslims in Islamic countries if they were judged by current USA standards . Many men in France would be going to jail , by US laws ,for things that are acceptable in that culture . Also there are, in this country , many degrees of child abuse . A man posseses some 60 year photos of naked children from another country , a 19 year old boy makes out with a 15 year old girl , A priest forces himself on a 5 year old boy . There are grey areas , and some black and white . Also true child abusers are sick people .Often suffering from severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder caused by having been sexually abused themselves . These people need to be seperated from the children and helped . Of course they also need to be punished for commiting a crime . But not the death penalty .
Now a child murder is a different story . Sometimes the murder occurs because the pedohile panics when it seems like their addiction/fetish may be found out , and their life destroyed . This certainly deserves life without parole . But I think the death penalty makes us just as wrong as the murderer .
And this is a problem with severe punishment of pedophilia and DWI accidents . The severe punishment of people who are basically good people who gave in to a disease or addiction , while not really MEANING to hurt anyone can cause them to commit worse acts . For instance a pedophile may hurt or even kill a child in a state of panic . And a drunk driver may take off without helping a person he has hit . Or without supplying the insurance info when he has hit a car .
There is a difference in the fetishes/addictions of wanting to have pleasurable sex with a child and wanting to hurt a child . Drunk drivers usually don't want to hit people or other cars . For some hurting the child , or a pedestrian , or another car is an accident . Fueled by an addiction . Unfortunate , but some people have unacceptable addictions . Obese people are accepted because the addiction of being fat only hurts themselves . ( But ... What about if they decide to get on an escalator that is too small and they fall doen and hurt people below them , maybe a child . How will we compare this to sex with a child or a drunken car accident ??? )

I think death is really too good for them if they are truly guilty, but would agree with it only IF there is irrefutable DNA proof of their guilt. I feel this way because there have been too many cases of wrongful convictions. It seems like the last few years (here in the US anyway), with the advances in DNA technology, we keep hearing more and more news stories of wrongfully convicted people being proven innocent years later by DNA testing that was not available at the time of their conviction years before. I don't like the idea of more of that happening. If DNA gives proof positive, or if they confess, then they deserve to die.

And yes, I do have kids. I would lay down my life for them, but I would also die of a broken heart if they were ever wrongfully convicted of such a crime.

I believe they should initially have their genitalia removed for sex crimes. The death penalty-I am undecided on this. I am heartened to read of your passion about these offenders. Too many are released from jail only to reoffend. At least the death penalty would stop this from ever happening again. I suppose it is the possibility of a miscarriage of justice which holds me back from making a statement that it should be the death penalty, but I take your point that if it were one of our children that were the victim, we may go for that view. You have made me think about this problem which is good. It is easy to pay lip-service when one hasn't experienced it one's self, but these people must be dealt with so that they never re-offend.

I don't agree with the death penalty for anyone, and yes I am a parent. how would I feel as a parent to eventually find out that the person who was put to death for the murder/assault of my child was innocent. As pardon given after state sanctioned murder is no good to anyone. miscarriages of justice are still happening today on a shockingly regular basis, and they will continue to happen, mistakes are a human fallibility, check out the link below to see how many convictions have recently been overturned.

|Maybe you should stop and think about the other side of the coin for a moment, the parents of these people could have had to endure the death of their child, they've already had to endure the loss and separation from their child/loved one for no other reason than someone got it wrong somewhere along the line.

I don't agree with the death sentence being administered to anybody for anything. full stop.

This covers any crime, not just paedophilia and child killers.

I always hope that the vigilantes will get in there first and I also know what sort of life these people will get inside prison but I cannot condone the death sentence for anybody. Why do we need to stand up and post our reasons?

I would have thought being against killing another person wasn't something to be ashamed of?

** Yes, of three little boys. If you're a parent and (for the sake of argument - I make no inference on your parenting or your children) one of your children when older kills a child, by accident or on purpose, would you be happy for them to by electrocuted or given a lethal injection? Or would you prefer the system of justice that we have now because you know and love your child?

If you beleive that killing is wrong on one hand, how can you condone it with the other?

The death penalty was abolished because innocent people were wrongly convicted and hanged. So it isn't a case of child killers not deserving the death penalty...it's more a case of getting it wrong....

If YOU were wrongly convicted of a serious crime would you be happy to hang knowing that at least they get it right 90% of the time?
