1. Absolute truths apply at all times and places where it is logically possible for them to apply.

For example, as far as anyone can tell so far, the speed of light in a vacuum is an absolute: it's always the same no matter where or when it is measured. (That's why measurements of distance and time have to be relative, as per Einstein.)

2. Absolute moral prohibitions have no exceptions.

A good example of an absolute moral prohibition is the rule forbidding rape. Short of extreme duress, which could excuse just about any action, nothing can justify any exception to this rule.

3. Absolute rights have no restrictions.

It's hard for me to think of an absolute right. Grown-ups don't have an absolute right to life--our lives can be legitimately taken if we are caught in the act of trying to kill someone else.

However, a baby's right to life is absolute (disregarding, once more, extreme duress.)

4. Absolute certainty is a mirage. Human beings are finite creatures; we don't have a god's eye view of the universe. We can only be reasonably sure that things are true.

The Stanford Enclyopedia of Philosophy lists 393 topics under "absolute." However, under "The Absolute," * I found this: "(in Metaphysics) Most broadly, the terminous or ultimate referent of thought. The Unconditioned. The opposite of the Relative (Absolute.) A distinction is to be made between the singular and generic used of the term." The rest of it fills 3/4 of a fine print page.

Is this a trick question?

Doesn’t like absolutes. Doesn’t really believe in them, but if we did they would be more like points of no return. Sort of like the freezing or boiling point of water. The actual point moves all over based on a whole bunch of variables (presser, solvents, etc), but the results are absolute.

So absolute knowledge would be just beyond indecision were we know the answer is A for what ever reason, even if it is only because it is not B or C.

The Absolute is the totality of things; all that is, whether it has been discovered or not. It is usually conceived of as a unitary state of the external cosmos and internal spiritual consciousness — at least insofar as it can be acknowledged by the human mind — and is intelligible. In some varieties of philosophy, the Absolute describes ultimate reality. It contrasts with finite things, considered individually, known collectively as Relative.

Praise be to Allah Haraam is that for which the one who does it will be punished and the one who abstains from it will be rewarded, if the reason for his abstinence is following the prohibition of Allaah. 'i believe things like " love"(attraction to the opposite gender) is haram too(including loving your own wife/husband).Because it wil never benifit me in the hereafter, since its not a form of worship. And it makes you forget about Allah and hereafter.Noone is worthy of getting more attention then Allah!' 2nd part of your question: You misunderstood! Islam teaches us to be truthful and realistic. Usually, we love because of Allah and we hate because of Allah. Islam teaches us that a male and female can build up a good relationship founded on marriage. All those stories of media and movies are not helpful to make a person comply with the teachings of Islam. We do not say love is halal or haram because it is a feeling. Maybe it is not under control. You can judge what is under control. But people who fall in love are in many episodes away from the cleansed and pure atmosphere. Marriages that are usually good and lasting marriages are those that start at the least affection. That affection grows after marriage and maybe it will grow until the couples continue their companionship at the Jannah. And Allah knows the best! Jazakallah!
