Er...I like the names Aaron, Kyle, James...but you could name your child after someone you know/admire, or in history, or something...something personal. There's an online dictionary here, anyway: http://www.babynames.org.uk/ And Congratulations!

Layne as a middle name sound like someone's address. If you're looking for uncommon, but not unheard of names, try the social security website. It has a list of the top 1000 baby names of the USA. If you want something more unique, look towards the bottom of the list. If you decide you want something common, look toward the top. Also, be ware that initials are a source of bullying as well. My initials are GMB and I was called Gumby growing up! It was awful! There are A LOT of diseases that end with "LS," like ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) Good luck finding a good name!

I think Josiah & Jeremiah sound great with the middle name Layne & last name Smith. I also like Landon but not with the middle name Layne.

Coming up with a child's name should come from you, not from some Joe on the internet, however, if you follow these basic rules, I know you will come up with something special.
1. Do not come up with a name that other kids can rhyme a crule word with.
(Kids are cruel and disrespectful in school because of their immaturity. Layne can be easily changed to "Lame". I am sure you don't want him to be "Lame" for the next 12 years of school.)
2. Be mindful of what initials you are creating with the name.
(There are two kids I recall in school. Girl #1 had the initials E.L.F. Yes, she was "the elf", and because she was quite small in stature it fit or "stuck" until she got married.
Girl #2 had the initials H.A.G. She was unattractive, so you can imagine the teasing she went through.
(Try to for initials that do not form a word.)
3. It is always well to consider first and middle names from past ancestors. For immediate family member names, middle names are best -to lessen the confusion of current family members and credit report confusion.-
(This is how I was able to track my own genealogy back to the late 1700's. Some first names were past down to each generation. And the name tells the story of the family.)
4. Stick with a boys name that can not be misconsrtued for a girls name.
(Boys like strong boys names, just as girls like feminine names.)
5. Do not come up with a really bazzaar name because you feel the child needs to be unique. They will hate you for this. If little "Dweezle" or "Moon Rider" wishes to get into a respectable college or a professional career one day (If they survive school) they will probably legally change their name just to escape the humility. Don't ever put a child through this.
6. Since biblical times, names said a lot about who the person was. Make sure it is a respectable and fitting name to set your child up for a happy and stress free life.
Good Luck
