dont waste your time and money as of yet. If you find out the sex of the baby then you should have a headstart. I'm sure someone will give you a baby shower so you must registered for everything. from bathing supplies to baby decor (colors, patterns etc). If you feel you need to buy something now becausre you have just created a beautiful baby then i would say go with something neutral because you are too early to find out the sex of the baby (this happens when you are 20+ weeks). Buy a cute stuff animal!!!!!!!

Do not by stuff till you have you last scan (in most cases) at around 20 weeks that is when you are half way through.
By all of the following.
Cot
Bassinet (if you do not have a cot that can be put at different heights)
pram and/or stroller
at least 3 cot sheet sets, cot mattress (if possible a new one), cot mattress protector (even if the mattress has a side that has plastic on it to stop leakages ruining it), buy at least 100 newborn disposable nappies so you do not have the leave the house for a few day after the baby is born, baby monitor (not essential but handy), at least 10 bibs, at least 10 jumpsuits, 10 booties, 3 dummies minimum (get a glow in the dark one for when the little one goes to bed very handy), night light, 3 rugs of varying thicknesses, baby car seat preferabably one that can be used from birth to 28 kilo's, singlets at least 10, mittens, brush/comb, something to trim their toe and finger nails, baby top to toe wash (an all in one)
steam sterilizer for bottles if bottle feeding as cheaper, quicker and less messy than other methods, nappy bag, bottle warmer to keep bottles warm (just the ones that you take around with you not one that requires batteries or electricty in some form), stuffed toy and a rattle suitable for a new born (no more than this as you will be getting heaps when the little one is born), baby wipes lots of them for the same reason I said to buy heaps of nappies, if you are using disposable nappies consider buying a disposable unit for them, baby bath, change table, dresser to keep the clothes in a wardrobe is not neccessary if the dresser is big enough, play gym for use on the floor (very handy when the child grows up). at least 5 face washers, at least the same amount of towels, if using dummies a dummy chain so when in the car buy yourself with bub you can easily find the dummy or if you are out you don't lose it, baby rockers are handy but not necessary,
That is all I can think of for now

Congrats first and foremost. It's never to early to start buying things for your baby, the next couple of months will go by very quickly. You will of course need a crib and a car seat. Try to figure out if you will have a theme for the nursery and then try to ask friends of family that have had a baby, if they have any stuff they may be willing to gift you. And always remember that most friends and family will host baby showers, but don't rely on them for the larger items, like crib, stroller, playpen and such.

In the beginning, you really only need the basics:
a place for baby to sleep (crib, bassinet), a car seat (rear-facing), diapers, wipes, clothes, blankets, bottles, burp rags, stroller, baby monitor, etc.
What I recommend: changing table, Pack N Play (for overnight trips and/or providing a place for baby away from nursery), swing (really helps colicky babies), bouncy seat, high chair, a rocking chair or glider for you and baby.
Well, you keep saying her, you won't find out the sex until around 20 weeks, so I would wait until then to buy anything. After that, I would acquire the furniture first, unless you have family who are going to want to purchase it for you. Register for all the baby items that you want. Remember that people are going to buy her clothes whether you ask for them or not. BabiesRUs has a ton of stuff, but you can also use places like Walmart, Target, Sears, Baby Depot (Burling Coat Factory), etc.

For you: bath soak, a good movie or two to watch. Lotion to spoil yourslef with and a good box of cookies or candy.

I waited until I was 7-8 mos along, just so I could think about everything I needed that I didn't receive from the baby showers. If it makes you happy to go shopping though - go now for some of the personal things you want to buy your baby!
Here's a list of some of my favorite sites - enjoy!!! Best Wishes!

You should wait until your baby shower to buy things. If your not having one I suggest you go on craigslist.com they have cool stuff. I would buy unisex clothes for right now. Maybe a bouncer. Dont buy baby powder cornstarch is better. Some babies come out really small and need preemie outfits so get atleast 3 of those. When your at the hospital take all the free stuff you can even stuff you dont need LOL. They dont reuse it for the next person if its in your room they throw it out.

Let's wait a while, and while you are waiting, try taking a parenting class. Sounds like you might need one. About in your sixth month and you know everything is going ok, start buying a crib, diapers, bottles, and blankets. Then start the fun stuff like clothes.
Don't spend a whole lot on clothes because they grow out of them very fast. I like those one'ce (missed spelled) and those gowns where you use the little tie and the bottom of the feet.
Best of luck

Wait until you are about 5 months before starting to shop. When you hit the 5 months, go to Babies R Us and register. They are great at helping new parents find what a new baby needs.
