you usually get a large gush of fluid from your vagina. and if you happen to be in the bath tub or swimming and don't notice the initial gush, there is a constant dripping of fluid after than that doesn't go away until the baby is born. It almost feels like you wet your pants when it happens. The fluid has a distinct smell, almost sweet, too. so if it happens at night when you're sleeping, you will be able to tell if you did wet the bed or your water broke. hope this helps.

well, i had a urinary tract infection when i went to the doctor that day.( also dialated to a 3) no contractions or anything. at 11 that night i started trickling and thought it was from the UTI. well it kept happening and i realized after changing the 3rd pair of undies, hey maybe this is my water, i didnt think it would be like that...( very little and not often leaking...no contractions AT ALL!) and I was a month early!

I read that it smelled sweet, but i had no smell at all to mine, i was so confused, so they told me to go on in....I had a small tear at the top, so thats why i was bareley leaking. my water finally ended up fully breaking about 14 LONG hours later at the hospital, 1 hour later I had my baby!

WHEW WHAT A NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!

My water never broke. With my first my doctor had to finally break it and I had been at the hospital for a few hours by then.

And my second I was induced.

I have heard sometimes it is a gradual leak and a friends gushed all over, but mine never did on its own. When they did break it, it was a very warm gush of water.

If you gush a clear to pinkish liquid when you get up from a sitting or laying position, your water has broke.

Put on a pad and lay down for 15 minutes. If your pad is pretty wet after you stand up, go to the hospital.. and take the wet pad.. they will test it to see if it is urine or amniotic fluid.

for me, just like many others, it felt like i peed my pants (even though i had just finished going to the bathroom). I sat down on the bed and felt a big gush of water run out that i couldn't control and i knew it was my water...

well, a nurse broke mine, but when she did, it kind of felt like a water balloon broke inside me, best way I can describe it.
