I was just curious. We are 24 weeks pregnant and we have painted, put a border up, and this past Sunday- put the crib together(but obviously w/ no sheets, etc. yet since she's not due until January). But... when did all of you get your baby's room together? :) Thanks!

I am 23 weeks, 5 days. My husband and I started the nursery the 2nd week in September. He painted and put in a closet organization system the first weekend. We bought all the furniture the last week in September and already have everything set up.

He is now putting up shelves and just put up the new light fixture. We don't have too much left to do, except buy whatever we don't get on our registeries.

We started early because we wanted to have the nursery close to complete before Thanksgiving and compeletely ready just after Christmas. It has worked out extremely well for budgeting purposes also! On another note, we knew the childbirth, first aid & breast feeding classes would be coming up in November and December, so we didn't want to have too much going on at once.

Good Luck to you both!

You should do the nursery whenever you feel like it. For some people it helps make the pregnancy real in the beginning and when they can still find their feet to do it then. Some people like to wait until the big ultrasound so they can deck the room out in gender specific colors and personalize things. Some people like to wait til the point of viability around 28wks. It all depends on the person. I didn't bother doing a nursery this time around because after having 4 munchkins I've learned that they are just going to live in my bedroom anyway(it makes it easier with nursing and stuff to have them nearby) so I've just moved the crib in our room. When they graduate to their own room then we can talk decorating.

Like some people say there's no proper time in starting collecting and doing the nursey.

I started with the travel system, and only last week I got the cot.
I'm 34 weeks pregnant now and still feel like I need stuff to get, but I think I've got most of it!!

You don't worry and buy whatever you like, just make sure you don't go over the top, it is early still!

I was very poor when I had my first child but, the day I found out I was getting her, I went and put a whole lot of baby things on layaway for her. I diligently paid on them and got them out well before she was born. Some of them, she still has and they are 36 years old.

I also bought disposable diapers every week and stacked them in the corner of her room. By the time she was born I had enough to last till she was 4 months old.

I'll get it together when my baby's a year or so old and has some discernible interest in it.

For the first while, you are going to want the baby right by if not in your own bed, and just that means the rest of the baby what-not tends to end up in your own bedroom as well.

Trust me, putting a newborn in his/her own private room, no matter how nicely decorated, is kind of a sick thing to do. It would also, I imagine, be hell on Mum having to head out of bed and off to a separate room rather than just rolling over in bed to nurse.

I'll prolly have it done way ahead of time. don't put it off till the last minute, b/c you don't want to be bringing baby home and trying to get everything in order, b/c you'll be wiped!
As long as everything is pretty much in order a few weeks ahead of time, you should be good. That's what I'm hoping.

I am 37 weeks and 4 days and still do not have anything together. It has been so crazy and hectic. I hope I can get settled before the baby comes.
