I always figured I'd write some novel someday - probably Vietnam era-related.
What have you been thinking of writing about? Have you already started? Already published? Or just many ideas & thoughts? Who would your audience be? Would it be a short story or novel?

Not great american but moderately good british novel...

I always wanted to write something of real quality - not trashy beach literature but something that explores an idea... but the pressure of making it good is intimidating... I have the themes that matter - a sort of structure but its still a fairly thin thread in my mind...

I have been published but only with educational text books - still a buzz to see your name on a book in a shop but not really what I day dreamed about when I was 12.

Yeah. But as Ray Romano observed: "I thought about writing the Great American Novel...but then I thought: I don't even want to read the Great American Novel."

I'm more of a fantasy author. I've dabbled in other genres but keep coming back to this one. I've already started several novels, one of which I actually intend to finish and try to publish someday.

I've published a handful of novels. Well, a couple of handfuls, I suppose. None of them's great. None of them's American either, for some reason.

They're hard work. It's incredible, how much time and application they take. And when they're finally finished, it's even harder to get anyone to take any notice.

So -

Best of luck with yours!

I wrote a book. I really felt it truly was the great American novel. I called it The Grapes of Wrath. Then this guy Steinbeck gets it out before me!!!!

I started mine in April...

I pretty much have the outline in my mind and have about a third of it written so far. I've been researching everything I can read and the going is slow, but I am making progress.

Good luck with your novel!

g-day!
