Stress, weight loss, change in diet, change in exercise and illness can all delay a period.
Plus, remember that a cycle is an average of 28 days, and most months have at least 30 days in them. (cycles can be anywhere from 21-35 days, and still be considered normal.)
Also, if you have only had a period for a few years, your cycle could still be regulating. Some girls don't have a regular cycle until they are in their 20s.

many fectors could affect the monthly period and the common one is stress. it could change the hormonal balance in your body which makes the period appears.
the right counting of your cycle is from the first day of your period until the day before the first day of the next month period. it's not like "every 5th of the month". the regular cycle is around 28-35 days. and it doesn't drop always on same days.

you would think that you get your period the same time each month, like lets say the 25th, but you cycle for 28 days so that would make your period arrive on the 23rd of the following month and so on...get it?

stress.... stress always causes mine to come later than expected. but it also depends on your body. many variables can go into effect here.. your body tends to shift to be "regular" with the girls you hang around, so check with them to see if they come later than you
