Donnie Darko. It's one of those films that when you see it you either love it or think 'what the f...?' about, so I doubt it'll ever be more than a cult classic - that, and it's so weird! But I do think it's brilliant. I had to watch the Director's Cut and listen to the commentaries to fully get what was going on in this one, but it's a pretty awesome piece of work really - totally original (which is so rare!) and also kind of personal really. I don't know why, but it seems to me that a lot of the characters and situations seem really familiar even though they're not really, and even the stuff that doesn't immediately make sense still seem important and interesting.

That's the best explanation I can really attempt for Donnie Darko without giving away any of the backstory of the plot!!

One thing's for sure - if you consider yourself any sort of film buff, you HAVE to see Donnie Darko. You don't have to like it of course, but you do have to appreciate what it is.

Fog of War. It's a documentary that EVERYONE should watch. Very compelling. I noticed the person who answered before me mentioned Donnie Darko. I whole-heartedly 2nd that recommendation.
Also a philosophical film called Waking Life is a phenomonal piece of cinema also.

Prey for Rock and Roll

It's absolutely without a doubt one of my favorites. Might not be everyones thing though.

But it's a got Gina Gershon in it. and a lot of rock! and a chick band that doesn't suck!

I guess I overlooked it. It's all good, I would have probably underrated it too.

I don't see too many movies. I think life is better when you go out and make your own adventure, drama, or comedy (well maybe not drama) instead of being a critic, watching a movie of somebody's fake life and only wishing you had a life of your own.
