gave up to something even though you were sure of your victory? Why?

Yes. I have sacrificed victory in an argument I was sure to win for the sake of peace-keeping and so as to not being thought of as arrogant or demeaning.
It's a small loss comparative to the otherwise resultant hard feelings.
