I'm not sure I understand your question. To be lost in anything is to out of touch with reality. Romantic love is not authentic love as the former is fleeting and the later is eternal. Authentic love involves a high degree of awareness and is never lost.

If by "lost in love" you are indicating some type of romance...
Then I would disagree...

We always had an identity...
Always have...
Always will...

The trouble is...
We cannot see ourselves by ourselves...
We need others to provide us with a reflection of ourselves...

They are our mirrors...
They stand tall before us...
And show us what we look like (ie identity)...

If they were not there: the relationship, the love, etc...
It may feel like we no longer existed...
For we no longer could see ourselves in their reflection...
But nevertheless, we are still very much there...

Frightening...
It can be...
But really, no need for alarm...

If it's only love in a relationship than I disagree but if you mean love overall than I would agree!! Without love I feel I would be nowhere and would have nothing but emptiness!!

One should love themselves first, for in so doing can then only your give and identify with others, through the self.

It depends on what, for you, identifies your true self.

If it's love (or love from another), then yes, I agree.
