I am searching for answers to questions involving a relatives death in Washington, D.C. during the late 1960s or early 1970s.

I would suggest searching the name of the person on the Social Security Death Index, so you can narrow down the date of death. At that point, you'd have less newspaper to deal with.

If you're in or near Washington DC, you could avail yourself of the Library of Congress which probably has the old papers on microfilm. If not, perhaps your local library has the Washington Post.

If the newspaper you are looking in has an online version you can search for the person ny their name instead of going by date
