I am just curious.
My Midwest family members say:
"Are you going with us to the show" in reference to the movies.
I also heard this phrase in the Kansas/Missouri area.

Well, when I go see a live show on stage for instance on Broadway or on London's West End, I go to a show.

If I go see 'moving pictures at a theater or drive-in' I go to the movies.

Either way, I love to go. Anyone up for a show or a movie?

For going to the movies, I say "to the movies." For a Broadway play, I say "to the show." My aunt, on the other hand, says "to the show" for both the movies and a play.
