"Great minds think alike" means that great people think about things in similar ways. They are always thinking about betterment, about progress, about innovation etc!!!

I think that great minds think alike when there is only one definite solution to a particualr situation/problem.
By definition alone a great mind should be one that thinks in unique and individual ways. As such, if a solution has multiple solutions and you pit 2 great minds against each other to solve it, there is a high chance they will apply their unique thinking to the situation and come up with 2 different solutions.
Its relative to the situation I suppose.

I don't think so. If great minds think alike then why is there only 1 Albert Einstein type person. Why is there only 1 Ghandi or MLK??
I say, great minds think by themselves. And thats the way it ought to be.

great minds do think a like. In my opinion, the think in parallal.
that said, greater minds make jumps of logic that defy reason, but prove to be sound.
an example of this is radio. how on earth did anyone figure that out.
another example is heating things up, to make them cool as in refrigeration.
