I spilled some granulated sugar on my hot cooktop and it immediately melted and solidified. I've tried the special cooktop cleaner and it does nothing. I've also tried scraping it with a razor blade (recommended in my cooktop manual). It scraped off some of the mess, but most of it just won't come off. Any ideas?

I had that problem. I poured a lot of hot water over the spot until is was soaked and turned the burner on. The spot reliquified and I pushed it away with a metal spatula while it was still liquid.

You can either scrape it away with a razor blade and/or use smooth cooktop cleaner.

I warn you not to use any other cleaners not formulated for glass cooktops as they can scratch the surface.

I know you've tried both of these methods, but it does take time. When my mom first got hers, she boiled some water over...wow, what a mess! Cleaning those smoothtops is NOT fun and takes a long time and patience.
Good luck!

One thing I would suggest is to heat up the cooktop to a low setting so it's warm but not scalding and then try to pry them apart while wearing some sort of fabric glove to protect yourself. When I have pans with burnt sugar on them, I boil water and the sugar usually dissolves into the water allowing me to pour it out and clean (but from what i can tell this isn't your issue) I have also heard that white vinegar can soften sugar stains but not sure about actual sugar. Worth a shot, right?

The best thing is to dissolve the sugar with a very hot sponge full of soapy dishwater. Heat the sponge in the microwave (it will be scalding hot!) to speed things up. Let it set on the spot, then wipe up, repeating as needed.

If it's sugar it can dissolve in water. It might take you a long time, but I would say either pour water on it and let it sit, or rub it with a wet rag over and over.

Try Goo-Gone! It works on almost everything! Good Luck!

Let it sit on the site for a while before you wipe or rub it off.
