A lot of babies that have birth defects, the body gets rid of naturally by causing a miscarriage.

Babies who are retarded--I expect that there are lots of reasons for this, and I am not smart enough to tell you about most of them. If a baby is kept without oxygen while it is being born, severe brain damage occurs and retardation is likely. This is NOT caused by faulty sperm or eggs.

Autism is not recognizable in the womb. Babies have to develop for a while until mom or dr realize the child isn't growing in his mind and personality like he should be. Then the diagnosis of autism is made. It is NOT a birth defect. It has NOTHING to do with faulty sperm and eggs.

There are many reasons why babies are born with disabilities. Some conditions are genetic, meaning that genes from either or both parents are defective and this produces disabilities such as cystic fibrosis. Some are caused by environmental factors such as thalidamide which was caused by a common drug given to mums in pregnancy. Some, such as Downs Syndrome are caused when the cells begin to divide and a part of this goes wrong. Others are caused by lack of oxygen in the womb, such as cerebral palsy. Others do not appear to have any reason, no one yet knows what causes autism, it is not thought to be because of faulty sperm or eggs. Obviously the answers here are simplified as it would take too long to explain many of the complicated processes involved in developing a baby.

Those are usually genetics problems between the mother and father...you can have the baby tested in the womb for many of those...some people choose to abort a retarded (down) baby, some decide to keep them and some don't test.

There are a lot of factors to consider in this type of issue. I am not exactly sure but I do not think that it has to deal with the sperm. I lot of times it can be that there was a medical malfunction or the mother was a high risk or there wasn't enough pre-natal care.

most the time it has to do with the way that the baby develops. several things can go wrong. sometimes there are chromosomal abnormalities. there is a very broad spectrum when it comes to autism. some can be severe and some are functional.

you need to be more specific with the symptoms of the disease. there are tons of mental and physical illnesses that a child can have and usually it has to do with genetics. and sometimes it is brought on by the mother (who did drugs while pregnant)
