First lets change this to: the Europeans didn't "conquer and colonize" the Americas.

Europeans landed here and settled in a few areas. They then grew into settlements and began colonizing these areas, their children now became the first citizens of America and started towns and small cities, then their children became the first real Americans and colonized America, not Europeans.

The Europeans failed, the Roanoke colony, the Jamestown colony, it went on and on. They all but failed, those that did make it, was for their perseverance. They beget the first colonial peoples.
As for conquering the Americas, it's still going on. It's a black mark on our country what we've done to the American Indian, the Blacks and the Orientals, the Japanese during WW2 but we're learning, to slow maybe but, we're getting there.

Europeans colonized the Americas because the saw all the success that the Spanish were getting when they came and thought that they could get success too. Europeans mainly came to get the three G's which are Gold, God, and Glory. Gold because they wanted to be rich, God, because they wanted to convert the natives to their religion, and Glory so they could be recognized for what they did.

They primarily used four diseases for which humans in the "New World had no immune defense.

The Spanish claimed they came bringing Christianity but what they really brought besides sanctimony was four diseases that killed thousands of innocent peoples. Then in a typical self serving, delusional mind set claimed to have conquered those same peoples.

Ahhhh. The human ego, it was in full fledge indulgence then as it is now!

Disgusting, really!

The reason was the usual one ….greed.

One thing that helped the Europeans a great deal were the diseases they brought over with them. The native people had no natural immunity to them and many of them were wiped out.
