People from India's skin is dark, not just from their environment, but because of the African Diaspora and the settling of Africans in that region, you have to get the melanin from Africans in order to be able to get as dark as Indians get. They are also mixed with Asian and Caucasian, because of India being such a well known port for barter...You have to know that any people that have dark skin have African ancestry, and if White person can tan they have an African ancestry, because most scientists recognize only 2 real races; ******* & Caucasoid, but originally the African was the sole race, but a migration to the cold weather evolved the Caucasoid...All people came into existence from the African diaspora (migration) all over the world and with different environs their features and skin color lightened depending upon weather and environmental conditions (cold, heat, etc) and the available foods...

The pigmentation of skin is determined by how much melanin is produced. Originally when people were evolving, the amount of melanin in their skin was determined by their indigenous climate. For example, Africans and Indians adapted dark skin as they evolved because their habitats were hot and the extra melanin in their skin was adapted to protect them from the sun's rays. That's why people of Nordic or European ancestry have light skin- their original climates weren't very warm and they didn't need all that sun protection. I learned that in high school.
