No I don't. Why? What for.. so someone can email me with lies. Feed me a bunch of things made up that are not true. And if it's a guy. Most likely trying to hit on women via Internet. He thinks them easy targets. Nah... Also if there is one thing I can't stand are fake friends. When things are dandy every thing is A OK. They are there. But when you need someone to really talk to. They can't be bothered. I'm mean that way. If they can't be bothered. I can't either.

Yes, I do allow for both. I disable the IM function whenever I'm at work, or about to go to sleep, movies, etc...
I did have to disable the IM function once for an extended period. One of my answers generated such a response from people that I was flooded with IMs and over 40 e-mails in one day. However, it was all positive...just a LOT of it!
I do wonder sometimes what makes people add me as a contact. Some have sent me e-mails letting me know why. I always welcome that bit of news. Others sometimes ask for my advice/help "privately". I welcome that too.

Yes to emails only. Many people don't because there are a few rude people out there who will send hateful IM's or emails.

Yes. I dont know why they dont. Maybe its mostly chicks who dont and they get harrassed by the schmuck dudes who think IMing or Emailing some chick out of the blue will make those chicks want them.
Its funny how dudes react to chicks on the internet.

I allow emails but not IM's. I assumed that IM's might bother me too much. Maybe I'll try it out anyway.

I did until a freak with the IM name dx6767 contacted me with a fake story about being depressed because his friend just died in a car wreck and he just needed to chat for support. All he wanted to do was talk about my veins in my hands. WTF is that about? Then when I immediately ended it he threatened to cut himself if I didn't talk to him. He got violent and I blocked him.
He needs help whoever he is. I'm a compassionate person and was just trying to help someone out. He was trying to use me to get off and that's just gross.
So unfortunately he ruined it for everyone else. I'm too scared now to let anyone contact me that I don't already know.
