previously i had posted a question regarding this lady getting a whopping 10-14 years in jail for torturing her foster daughter for 11 years. (sticking hypodermic needles in her eyes, smashing her feet with weights, and more... not to mention she runs from the cops...)

now look at this, this guy steals a 52 cent donut and is going to get a minimum of 5 years, and they are hoping to put him away for 30.

Yeah, makes a lot of sense to me [insert sarcasm indicator here].

I think the foster mom should rot in a hole and this guy should just have to pay for the doughnut.

OMG Firefox doesn't recognize the proper spelling of "doughnut," but "donut" is okay? Seriously.

What the heck. I think they should give him life and her a box of donuts + life. What a twisted justice system we have.

I could see an over-zealous prosecutor pursuing 30 years for a donut. The guy was probably hungry.

Because he has a criminal history, prosecutors say they could seek 30 years. If he has enough criminal history to justify asking for twice the high end of the sentencing range, he should probably do the time. He obviously has not learned how to play well with others despite MANY second chances.

Just another one of those things that was like an avalanche, it starts of small but it increases with the other actions that followed behind it , including not being able to even eat the donut that started the whole thing.

and I did 2o months as a 15 yr. old for running away from the foster home in 1966. All they took from me was my family, five isters, two brothers, my parents and our pets. And my two surviving children are young adults who think I'm going to Hell because I claim to have lived in it ever since.

The law isnt always fair. How stupid is that? That womon should never be released in my opinion, and as for the guy with the dohnut, thats ridiculas.

Read the article.

"It's not the doughnut," Baker said. "It's the assault."
