Of course not. That's how we learn.

No it's not. But we have to learn from what went wrong and make sure it doesn't happen again.
It's also good to see how much people can change if they really want to e.g. German reunification/ fall of Iron curtain.
Or if they try long enough, like in Ireland where they fought to get the English out of the country for about 300 years. Well that'll still be going on until Northern Ireland won't be British anymore (therefore forever?). But maybe they'll eventually achieve it.

Looking back on the past depending on your memories could be a bad thing or a good thing, but you can always take heed of what did come and what might have been and learn from the mistakes.

I don't think looking back is pointless we all learn our lessons in time. I myself have many wonderful memories and hope that they will continue looking back is a wonderful thing when you think and relive all them special moments.

Thank you

In what sense? The past sets a precident for the future, so that you may learn from past mistakes so that you may not have to repeat them. If you do not let the past rule you, and allow you to make decisions based on fear (i.e making a poor decision, or not trusting all people because one person proved untrustworty, etc.) Then the past can be an xcellent tool to pave a better future.

It is nice to remember things but the thing is we only remember what was good, why is that? and we are all guilty of it, are we all so shallow, you never here people saying, do you remember when so and so died, what a gas, it is all selective memory and less face it, it always becomes bigger and better than it actually was, so I guess it really is pointless and the ones we are telling it to wer,n't there anyway, so very boring for them.

It is always prudent to review and update. Look back and learn from what has been done so far. There will be things you want change, continue to do or even improve on as it goes on.

Sometimes it's good to look back on the past to remind yourself not to make the same mistakes again.

by looking into past we can construct a self you can choose it from your many selves that you were and you will be.

Bach espouses a consistent philosophy in his books: Our true nature is not bound by space or time, we are expressions of the Is (see: Non-duality), we are not truly born nor truly die, and we enter this world of Seems and Appearances for fun, learning, to share experiences with those we care for, to explore - and most of all to learn how to love and love again

No....the past is how we learn...although...lol man seems to go in cycles and not learn much from history--it keeps repeating itself...it's not so much that we don't look back, we don't take heed of what we see
