I will exert all the power at my command to save the life. And if I fail, I will say," I am very sorry I could not save you against the will of God".

My opinion is that you should speak to his family (if that is not you already) and take the appropriate steps to have him medically treated for his depression or whatever other mental illness he may have. Once he is in a safe place then you can work on counselling to pull out the demons in his mind and then that will allow him to see the beauty of the world and make him want to live. I speak from personal experience.

I'd tell them that there is no guarantee that the afterlife will be a great experience either. Especially if you were miserable at the point of death. We are put here on this earth to solve problems and issues within ourselves, not to run from them. Learn to love yourself and spoil yourself ridiculously and share the wealth. Life can be beautiful.

I only know that someone saved my life by telling me they would be their for me. I do believe just standing beside, and listening to, someone who even hints at suicide may be the best thing you can do.Try not to give up on a depressed friend, their gloom may bring you down, but with just a little effort, that gloom may pass.

well maybe i will tell him to think about the people that love him and how they would feel if he dies because they are the ones that are staying here on earth and not him and that everything at the end turns out better then before he just needs another chance in life and he has to give it to him

A lot of people don't really want to commit suicide, they just want to be heard and understood.
Be a good listener and try and help them fight through the demons that are weighing heavy on their heart.
If someone truly does not want to be in this world anymore, they will just straight out kill themselves. You won't really have a chance to talk with them.

tell him how much he still has to live for. he may not realize it at that moment, but if he gives it a chance, he will. don't forget to pray, God will always make a way. tell him what could be ahead of him if he throws his life away now...hell. that is not a pretty place. if he wants to die, then he'll KEEP ON DYING in hell. make him realize it's a mistake

Tell him about most of the positive things about life that you can think of, help the person physically, emotionally and financially where possible and pray fervently for the person.

I have tried this and nothing I did worked except getting them to a counselor and mental hospital where they could get professional help.
That person is still with us and is living a happy life now.

If you are a teenager and this is a school friend, you need to immediatly speak with a teacher, principal, parent.
If you are an adult, and the other person is a child, speak with their parents.
If you are an adult and the other person is an adult, good luck.
