A friend gave me this list of must haves (besides the obvious items, crib, changing table, etc) before I registered. I use ALL of these items and am glad that I am not without them:

Swaddler Blanket w/ Velcro (or some receiving blankets)
Sleep Sacks (front zip sleep blankets)
Gerber White Long Sleeve Snap Tees with attached Mittens
Diapers (newborn sizes 1 (8-14 lbs) and newborn (up to 10 lbs)
Fisher Price Pop-a-zon Swing
Boppy
Wipe Warmer
Gas Relief Drops (Milicon Infants)
Grooming Kit (American Red Cross)
Cloth Diapers (to use for Burping) burp cloths and lots of wash cloths
If Breastfeeding:
Lanolin Cream (several tubes) Lansinoh Brand or Medela
Breast Pads 60-ct Lansinoh Brand
Breast Milk Storage Bags

I'm just going to give a list of what I have found to be must-haves!!
Boppy
Pack-N-Play
Bouncy seat/swing
baby monitor
A diaper pail you like
Bumbo seat
Sound machine (makes white noise or waterfall noises)
Crib toy/mobile
The type of diaper ointment you prefer (I like Butt Paste)
Bottles (if you plan to bottlefeed)
The baskets for the dishwasher to put bottle parts, pacifiers in
Dreft detergent
Breast-feeding supplies (if you plan to breastfeed)-things like lanolin, breast pads, storage bags.

Good luck, hope this helps!

If you put small little items like lotions and toys thats ALL you'll get. Theyre nice and all, but when you have things that you NEED they pale in comparison.

I'd just put whats left of the larger ticket items, people often pool their monies together to afford them. And you'll find theyre more needed than the lotions and toys and onsies.
