Either Bambi meets Godzilla, or one of the current Standard Oil ads showing how diesel trucks will clean the air and how oil companies sabotage of alternative energy research is a good thing and will be a big help in opening up the wildlife refuges in Alaska to drilling and more off-shore platforms etc.

Meg
For, me, Stephen King's "Salem's Lot" was the most fright-inducing movie I've ever seen. I remember years ago, being home alone and watching it on TV....I was scared out of my wits!
My daughter laughs at me for thinking it's a scary movie. She thinks the scariest film ever was "Blair Witch Project", which frankly, made me yawn :)
The original version of "The Omen" is a close second...it's psychologically terrifying!
Edit: Meg you didn't ask about books, but I read "The Exorcist" many years ago when it first came out. I literally slept with the lights on for two weeks :(

I have to agree that Room 1408 was probably the scariest in recent years. Although the Halloween remake was good, it was a different type of horror movie. It wasn't the psychological horror you get from Room 1408.

I don't really know about the scariest one of all time but recently I saw the remake of Halloween by Rob Zombie and I have to say that it was really really disturbing. I also think House of 1000 Corpses was also disturbing and scary. Movies like that, that have that element of reality scare the hell out of me.

1408 scared the crap out of me.

I don't find horror flicks all that scary. Nice for a little adrenaline rush, though. As for out and out frightened the breath out of me; Fatal Attraction.
