First of all, I'm asking this question at 10 to 4am. I have a lecture at University at 9am.

How do I do it? Half the time lately I'm sleeping in until 12pm/1pm and missing some lectures, then the other times I wake up early with 3-4 hours sleep and tired as hell.

I try going to sleep early but I simply can't sleep. When I wake up early and only have 3-4 hours sleep, I stupidly still go to bed late.

Perhaps drugs?

Cheers. :(

I have the same problem and speaking from personal experience this is what I suggest....

over the weekend, miss a nights sleep go out in the daytime and do not take a nap you will be tired and weak but don't worry try not to drink caffiene or anything that will keep you up. at around 10pm take a hot bath and go straight to bed, you will have a good night's sleep and a good sleeping pattern should follow from that.

Avoid taking naps to catch back up on your sleep. Get into a routine near your desired bedtime. Consider doing relaxing things shortly before bedtime like a relaxing bath. Moderate the consumption of caffeine products during the day and especially near bedtime. There are some over the counter sleep aids that are not habit forming that may help get you back into your normal sleep cycle.

Adhere to a schedule. Give your body 8 hours a night. Nothing is allowed during this time except sleep or preparing for sleep. If you can't sleep, do something like read that will make you sleepy. Your body will fight but eventually will learn that this time is for rest and will adjust.

Don't do anything interesting when you go to bed. No TV, no video games. Study or read something.

No coffee or caffeine after 3PM. Up in morning by 7 AM. If in bed and can't sleep, do the following.

Close eyes

concentrate on your breathing.

With intake of breath say "Deep"

Exhale, say "Relaxing"

Intake, say "Restful"

Exhale, say "Sleep"

Keep repeating this with your breathing.
