Wow. Could be a lot of movies. The most recent one I can think is Big Fish with Ewan McGregor. That's not really the plot of the movie but I remember something like that happening.

that could also be part of cinema paridisio, the young guy is in love with the new girl in town and swears that he will wait in front of her window for a year to prove his love, just one of the little side stories in the movie

I agree that "The Last Kiss" has a similar scene, but the movie you are referring to is "Eight Days a Week" starring Keri Russell.

my first answer was wrong.. it's The Last Kiss.. (same actor, different movie).. his wife decides he is too immature.. so to prove that he will not stop he literally sleeps at the door.. she walks over him or around him day in and day out.. finally one day there is a rather bad storm and she finally lets him in..
