If you beat one of the games, you get a password. Write down that password and enter it when you start the other game. (So if you beat Ages, enter the password at the beginning of Seasons)

The story will start up where the other game left off, and you'll have access to more items. It's the only way to see the true ending of the game.

It isn't actually a linked game, once you beat one of the games, your able to transfer data over to the other and it adds in several new adventures in the game.

For example you play and beat Oracle of Seasons you can then use a friends gameboy with a copy of your Oracle of Ages in it, link them with a cable, and you'll continue the game
(this works vice-versa as well)
