The problem with black is that the mineral deposits from the water alone will leave white spots. After you clean it using any type of cleaner, you can keep it shiny and keep the deposits from forming with Gel Gloss. It comes in a spray on application and liquid, but in either case you apply it, let it dry to a haze then buff with a soft cloth. I find it lasts 6-8 months depending on the usage. Both Home Depot and Lowes carry it and one container lasts forever.

I think black and tan is VERY cosmopolitan looking and would be great. If you don't like the tan idea then maybe a pale lime green? I love that color with black too. I agree about the pink. Ewwww! About the accessories I think stainless steel would look great too. At least for the wastepaper basket, soap dish towel holders etc. Maybe a silver or black framed mirror? I personally do not like the gold idea because I think it looks cheap. (just my opinion though) Stainless steel is kind of timeless and goes with the cosmopolitan look but it would also go with the lime green. If it were me I would go to my local walmart and just buy a soapdish and wastepaper basket and put it in the room to see if I liked it first. (Cheap and easily returnable) Are your faucets at the sink and tub silver? if so, the stainless steel is the way to go. I would probably hang black towels on the towel racks. One thing you didn't mention was the color of the floor. That would help us too. Please edit again and let us know that.

Black toilet and sink? How unique and sexy. I dont think I've ever seen a black toilet. What you can do is clean them with Scrubbing Bubbles or Mr. Clean. Either product works great.

You'll be sorry!!! We had one in the powder room in our bedroom for 16 years. Always had water spots and lime mark in the bowl. Tried everything, the only thing you can do is clean it every other day. The outside shows dust all the time. Black sinks are just as bad. I finally dropped my pager in it and I "accidentally" broke the bowl trying to get the pager out.
