It certainly lacks character and integrity. If you lie about your basic character there is no telling how much else you lie about. This isn't a slam against gays I could care less who you love as long as it isn't kids, its a slam against liars.

Social Liberal, economic conservative, straight
It's OK to be homosexual, whether in or out of the closet. Like the old blues song says"Ain't nobody's business but my own".
What strikes me as wrong, and possibly pathological, is supporting anti-gay legislation while in said closet.
In a just world, we'd all mind our own business and let love find it's own way. It occurs to me that in my social milieu, which contains all variations of single, married, co-habiting, straight, gay, bi- and transgendered, the subject of orientation only comes up as an intellectual exercise. Otherwise, it doesn't come up at all.

No, not wrong in and of itself. Simply being in the closet is not a transgression on someone else - to each his own.
But it may be 'wrong' for the individual if the reason is self-loathing. And it is certainly wrong if the closet is used as cover to pursue an agenda to limit or take rights away from others. That is just plain old hypocrisy, which is never right.

no, and it's not wrong to be an openly gay person either. I have many friends and acquaintances who are homosexual. It is their decision when they want to come out of the closet, and if they never do, that's fine too- it is none of my business what their lifestyle is.
However, I do find it odd when someone who is heterosexual has a friend or family member who is gay, and yet these people don't want gay marriage instilled so their friend or family member can have benefit to extra tax breaks or the power to decide if their loved one should live or die if they're extremely ill. Just because the partner is of the same gender. I consider that to be hypocritical and selfish of the heterosexual.

I don't think its right to hide who you are.
it takes a lot of strength to be hated for who you are, than hide who you are and be loved for you're not.
you also make it more difficult for your minority group by making their low numbers seem even lower. most studies on non-straight persons will say they estimate x-amount of people are in the closet or have same sex relations but consider themselves straight anyway.
but I do respect people's privacy.
I don't support tabloid writers who make careers from 'outing' people.

I'm a moderate/conservative and feel it is up to the individual whether or not he/she wishes to come out of the closet. In today's day and age it shouldn't be a big deal to come out but some people, for their own reasons, may not be comfortable in doing so...........

I am a former lib, and now a independent, but I believe that you do not choose to be gay, gay chooses you, it is all in the DNA. Now to your question, homosexuals can be in or out of the closet that's total their choice. Having said that is only becomes a problem when those who choose to remain in the closet, are the very ones in charge of making policy and laws that deny homosexuals the very rights that they are enjoying themselves. You can look to Larry Craig to see a example of my reasoning.

Independent, heterosexual female.
Homosexuals can do whatever they want, come out, stay in the closet. It is their personal business. As long as they don't start peering in bathroom stalls and proposition strangers in bathrooms. That is lewd behavior in anyones book.

No it isn't wrong. Who assigns these moral codes between right and wrong?
If a person is gay and chooses to not come out then that is their business and no one else.
