That's tantamount to saying I support my Doctor but not the treatment, I support the teacher but not her work, I support the farmer but not the food, I support the electric company but not the electricity.
Does anybody see how silly that statement is?

Your comparisons are incorrect. It would be tantamount to saying I support my Doctor, but not what the insurance company forces him to do.. or I support my teacher, but not the curriculum the state makes her teach... or I support my farmer.. but I don't like that he is FORCED to grow certain foods... and the electric company kind of is the top dog... so there isn't a comparison for that.

Joe.. even Teddy Roosevelt, a Republican President, said that saying you CAN'T criticize the president is what is servile and traitorous... think about that before you start calling names.

I support the Farmer, But this years crop of gree-beans is un-edible.
I support my Doctor, but before I opt for surgery I'm going to try changing my diet and getting more exercise first.
I support the electric company, but they charge us to much for the electricity and make mistakes on my billing.
I support the Teachers, but not if the School Board is going to make them teach about gay sex with Gary and Bobby the two "special" daddys.

I will always support our troops, but Viet-Nam was a 10 year long mistake.
I will always support or troops, but mr. bush pulled a bait and switch when he gave us Iraq.
Iraq is a colossal blunder that the next President will have to try and fix.

I support the War on Terror 100% and I want someone with with courage (and without lame excuses) to explain why we are not going after Al Qaeda in their Pakistan safe haven !

The point is to let them know that we do support them, as it is their job to go to war (when it is absolutely necessary, the key word is absolute), and no one really wants to die for this country.
People support the troops because they know them or some of them personally.
People don't support the war because there are no WMDs, no Bin Laden (at least in Iraq) and there was a strong motivation (rumor) that we were there for the oil. We're 5 years in and there is no end in sight, and no means of recouping that $500 billion that has been spent. We put too much of our children's future in investing in this war.

That's tantamount to saying I support my Doctor but not the treatment,

No it's not --

so much for flawed analogies....

The doctor would be the troops here?

To my mind the doctor is BUSH and the TREATMENT is the troops and he's guilty of MALPRACTICE because he operated on THE WRONG PATIENT

The treatment would be valid if the patient was

No, but I see how specious your analogies are !

I, in fact, support the troops, and not their present mission.
Having gone to Southeast Asia four times, to our last unnecessary war, I know how it feels to be risking your life for people who don't care, and just want you to leave.
But, being good Americans, you do what you're told, and hope that someday, "being a good American" doesn't equate to "Being a good German" in the 40's.
I support the troops in Afghanistan,(remember that war ?), totally, and without reservation. Those brave troops are doing what should be done to win this War on Terror.

These people have signed up to serve their country and unlike any other job they cant just quit. Supporting the people who are being told what to do, what to eat when and where to sleep and how to live is something that every American should do. We dont have to support the war to suport the same people who would fight on our own soil to keep us safe.

You got it wrong grocery bag. I support the troops and whatever mission is given to them. I don't support the REASON why we are there. Reason for war and mission are two different things. Keep trying though.

Your examples are ridiculous. It is very simple: I have the utmost regard for our military personnel. However, they are required to do what they are ordered to do, and I do not agree with what they are currently being ordered to do.

Why is that so hard for you to understand?

Iraq is a "sugar trap?" Why wasn't Afghanistan a "sugar trap?"

I like how you redefine something after the fact...Is that you Chenney?

i like my doctor, but insist on a second opinion
i like my teacher as a person, but she isn't a very good teacher.
i like my farmer as a neighbor, but will not buy his produce because i don't like it
i find electricity useful, but not the fact that the electric company is a utility monopoly.

do you see how silly it is to not understand such a simple dualistic concept?

What's the point of saying you support the troops that agree with your point of view, but brand those that don't as "phony soldiers"?

that's typical winger philosophy. You all claim to believe in God,but cry that your particular denomination is the ony one that does. You all claim to despise gays, but herds of conservative men troll bathrooms, the internet, and public parks looking for gay sex.

In other words,my pot wants to talk to your kettle.
