if you have a gas hot water tank and its making allot of noise find the drain and flush out your hot water tank.Alot of municipalities have alot of calcium in their water supply the calcium deposits itself on the bottom of your hot water tank and the flames under your tank will actually start to boil the water that's in this sediment making popping noises before it can actually start to heat the rest of the water in your hot water tank. get the calcium out by flushing it out through the drain make sure the hot water tank has been off for a couple of hours because the water in the bottom of the tank will be at boiling temperature.shut the water off on the top of the tank that sends hot water to the rest of the house red handle, keep the blue (cold)on open the valve on the bottom portion of the tank.
