It's a motorcycle trip! Why would you bring a laptop? I wear a tie on the weekdays and leathers on the weekend, but you sir, sound like the typical yupee, checkbook biker. Do yourself and enjoy the freedom of riding a bike without being tethered to the hassles of real life.

Magley hit the nail on the head. My old KZ1000 would unscrew camera lenses unless packed very carefully. I finally used a tank bag with openings for different equipment cut out of a large piece of foam rubber. My buddy's Harley with solid mounted engine would turn on flashlights when in the saddlebag. Most modern rubber mounted engines shouldn't pose too muchof a problem. When in doubt, use clothing to pack delicate or expensive items in and don't let it touch anything solid.

Not unless you drop the motorcycle on it. My laptop rides in the top case of my BMW K1200LT on every trip I take. No problems so far!

A friend of mine brought his, along with every other electronic gadget, GPS, IPod, etc. to Sturgis from IL. It worked fine as he was downloading pics, emailing them soon after they were taken. Ride Safe!
