I read and hear ALL THE TIME that Democrats of today represent the evil nanny state eroding America's freedoms and ready to take her in the direction of socialist/communist regimes. Well, putting aside the excess of inflammatory political doscourse this really represents, do any of you KNOW people that lived through these regimes?

I have associates that came of age and were young adults in pre perastroika Russia. It was awful.

Entire region's populations were moved without warning to different locations; discussing or practicing religion was held in a sort of unacceptable social disdain so few dared to do so; entire educational areas of SCIENTIFIC study were thwarted and not even allowed at university; news media reported nothing but feel good stories on its leaders; the vast majority of Russians did not know nuclear weapons existed (!!!); one never spoke of the government as "ears were everywhere"; at times, family members simply disappeared to be never heard from...

Nope.

It's childish name-calling, nothing more.

The fact is that while the liberal socialist democrats continue to spew bipartisanship, they are the ones who continue to act in a partisan manner. They are hypocrites. The bottom line is that they used naive republicans to deregulate the industries so they would become the final regulatory authorities and then they lined their pockets with the money that we are having now to pay for. Ask Chris Dodd and Barney Frank. And don't even get me started on the wonderful job that Nancy Pelosi has done addressing this problem. Where was she 2 years ago when the problem was presented and she did nothing. Where is she today at formulating a plan. And then her clearly politically charged speech yesterday. The liberal socialist democrats want control and will make the American public suffer till they get total control.

Have you not been listening. The Dems were trying to censer what is being said on talk radio. They want to tax by away of redistribution of wealth, which will destroy the economy and bring it under greater government control.

The estiblishment of atheism through the elimination of other religions from public locations seems as though they demanding a religion.

They want to make health care a government controlled agency.

Demand that only evolution taught in schools and no intelligent design.

WOW, sounds like the con's no more then you think and that the Dem's are on a steeper slope toward commies then you understand.

And a vote for Hillary is a step in this direction. It may be only a baby step, but do you really want to send us toward all that you describe above? If you don't think Hillary has socialist ideas for the country, then you have been successfully fooled.

Socialized medicine is the first step. It's what she's campaigning on, and she can claim she's not for "socialized" medicine all she wants, but it's what her plan is and there's nothing you or she can do about that. Not only is it the first step, but it should prove that she has a socialist mindset.

Once the medicine is socialized, the rest will follow. Please, GET this before it's too late and the voters move us in the direction of becoming what you're talking about above. Remember, they're doing it all in the name of "democracy." Pretty scary stuff, ay?

Yes, I am aware of what it was like. It's nice to see you are too. I hope this means you will be engaging in every effort to prevent that from happening. The more people rely on the state to survive, the faster it approaches what you mention above. I don't think that if Hillary wins we'll transform overnight into a full blown communist socialist state, but she is laying the ground work for that. In the future, if it continues in that direction it will happen. I say let's all wise up now and not go down that path.

To directly answer your question, yes, I really have knowledge of these old regimes and even of some current regimes. Socialists have been slowly and steadily infiltrating and influencing America and Americans since the 1960's. Where do you think all that "commune" nonsense came from among the hippies? Communists and socialists know full well you cannot overthrow the American government in one fell swoop.

They have been slowly and steadily wearing away at the foundation of America. They are slowly boiling the frog and many of us frogs keep jumping into the pot.

So, You don't think Hilary Clinton saying she is a Socialist in a debate held back in August comparing herself to F.D.R or other things she is saying indicates her standings in the Democratic party and it's not just her look at Pelosi. Although I 'd have to say it's not all dems just the extreme left

All they know is that those are distasteful words. They prefer name calling and personal attack to REAL debate on REAL issues because they know they will lose big time if they do. People have figured out what their game is and they will pay dearly in next year's elections.

No, they are going by their new definition of communism-socialism. It's a belief that government should respond to the needs of the people.

yes republicans generally do. The question is, did you state all that the Russian regime did or only the things that helped make your question seem somewhat plausible?
