You ever wake up and say to yourself "I'm tired of all these medications, today is not a good day to take any". I only have two to take, but they are for the rest of my life. I feel for those that have to take 5 or 6 or more. So some mornings I look at the medication and say NOT. And I put it back. Although my medication is like being on easy street. I have a brother who has it really bad. He jokes about making a cocktail.

Good question, as I thought I was alone in this. It's not like I'm on a lot of things normally, but sometimes it happens, and that's when I want to say ENOUGH! So even though I know it's not right to mess around with meds, there are days that I make the choice not to take them. Maybe it's a control thing, I don't know. The only thing I'm faithful about taking, and finishing, is an anti-biotic.

I don't skip them although I know how you feel, I have to take seven a day and some days I feel like slinging them in the bin. The annoying thing is that the Doctors can't seem to agree whether I should be on them for good or be taken off some of them completely, makes me wonder then if they're doing me more harm than good and as I'm still in my forties I worry about the long term side effects too of course. There again they probably saved my life initially so I am very grateful for that!

We have no insurance, so I had to quit taking my medication for hypothyroidism, post menopausal symptoms, and allergies/sensitivities. When I did take them, I'd sometimes skip them to make them last longer. Now I only take OTC or homeopathic meds, but only when needed. I took a pharmacy tech class a couple yrs ago and learned I didn't want to work in that field. Although I know some meds are absolutely necessary, we as a society are often taking to much medication.

I stopped taking my medication because of the side effects. My dad on the other hand needs to take so many different meds every day he must have several "cocktails" daily.

Nope. I have a little container with a tiny box for each day of the week, and put my pills for each day in the boxes. Every evening - down the hatch go the pills. I don't have any problem with them....they keep me healthy, and at this stage of life, I figure, your health is the main thing you need to keep going. Everything else depends upon it. A few pills down my throat each day is no inconvenience at all.

Yes, I skip my medicine alot of times on the weekends just to make it last longer. I hate thinking I am dependent on medication.

Thankfully, I don't have any meds I need to take daily.

But my grandparents do/did.
My grandmother would refuse to take her meds. She said she didn't like to take her water pill (for congestive heart failure), because the frequent urination interfered with the things she wanted to do.

My grandpa would ask if "all these pills are necessary," and I'd explain repeatedly what each was for... but then he'd be ok with taking them.

BTW- I'm sooo not cut out for long-term live-in care!!!

Yes, If I take them I am more prone not to take care of myself the natural way ie.exercise, diet. I think it's like a free pass to being unhealthy. Like there is no consequence for unhealthy behavior. Also they make me feel bad about being in this state because of bad decisions.

The only time I skip my medication (and daily vitamins, too) is if I have a headache and fear I might barf them back up. I have frequent headaches, and so there are months when I might miss a total of five days.

If I skip any, I feel lousy so I don't play around much. My body must like them, because I take them on time and everything seems to be just great. But miss some and oh my!
