I’m not rude to them. I’m sweet, but not so sweet that people want to walk all over me. A act just like they do. These people aren’t rude people either. They aren’t rude to each other, just to me. Is there a conspiracy or something?

I’d like to elucidate a bit. There are 3 levels of respect:
Disrespect – where someone actively ridicules you.
Neutral – whereby they, well, don’t disrespect you, but they don’t respect you either. They are neutral.
Respect – where they essentially trust everything you say.
Most of the people that I am referring to are essentially in between Disrespect and Neutral.
Basically, they ignore me, or treat me as if I don’t exist. Yet I am “good friends” with them.

how old are you?
sometimes when you are different than other people they don't accept you, which may cause them to be rude to you.....
along with MANY other reasons... jealousy, hatred, pranks, you name it....
be patient.... ask an adult for help (if you are young)
good luck. I will personally pray for you for them not to be rude to you ;)

it's called lack of confidence. even if your facing death you have to learn that is apart of life..people will pick at you every chance they can get because they think they know everything - when most of the time that isn't true. I have asked some heartfelt deep questions and gotten negative always negative responses. I know how you feel just dont give up take every breath you have and make it into what you would do if it were your last day alive. no matter what any one says do what you feel is in your heart at the time. we all make mistakes we all go through a roller coaster ride - not every one is perfect this too is apart of life. Right now I am facing the same thing EVERYONE i have come across has been RUDE to me. but they do it because that is the only way they know how to show love. just ignore those people or do what you feel is best - i try not to think about it which can be dangerous cuz u have to have a strong mind and will to get over what other people do and not forget who you are. life is never easy..but it is precious. take care and dont let any one put you down - if every man, woman, and child took every negative comment some one gave them and used it as concrete for their lives it would be a rough road...paved smoothly but not necessarily a road you want to live on :) i.e. crazy lol..

If you believe people are going to be rude to you, chances are that is what you will attract to yourself. A large part of this is your own perceptions. You probably notice the people that are rude to you much more than those that aren't which would certainly make it appear to be worse than it is. Also, you have to take into account other people's perceptions. You have no idea what is going on with them or what they choose to see in their own eyes. The fact that someone is rude to you could very well have nothing to do with you at all! You must not take anything personally for this matter, because other's perceptions can be so much different from yours (and the truth). The man that was rude to you the other very well could be going through a divorce or just rude to everyone.
Just continue to be the sweet person you are and try to change the way you view how other people treat you. Don't take anything personally but it never has anything to do with you!

Without knowing you that is hard to answer. But let me tell you what my wife and I have experienced in traveling.
On many of our trips overseas we have encountered other Americans that have stated "can you believe how rude these people are?" Whether it was London, Paris or Tahiti we saw the exact same thing. The people were complaining about how they couldn't get this or couldn't get that. They complained that they couldn't get American food, or that they were treated horribly for using ketchup.
Then it quickly dawned on us that their problem wasn't that others were rude, but they were rude and they were unable to see it in themselves.
They were blinded by their own arrogance and rudeness when in fact the people that they perceived as being rude, were reacting only as they should when encountering a rude person.
Here is a rather annoying philosophy.
If a person were to call you horse, tell them to kiss off. If a second person calls you a horse you might give it some thought. Upon hearing the third person calling you a horse you should start looking to buy a saddle.

It could be that you give off some kind of molecular level odour, which is impossible to pick up in the air but which makes people become rude without any forethought. Just tell them they're being rude, or say it to another friend when it happens and see what they think.

Hey if someone is rude to you they are not your friend and have very little respect for you. Its hard to say. Maybe the person deep down is nice to your face but dislikes you and there way is to be rude. You have to really think about this and don't let anyone be rude to you for any reason, your worth so much more!!!!!

People have no reason to respect you, perhaps?
Seriously... why does it matter so much to you? If you want to be respected, what kind of respect do you want? Fear? Awe?
Maybe you mean to ask, "Why aren't people polite?"
People aren't polite because its not like the old days where you'd get punched in the face for not being courteous. We live in a fake, douche-bag society where we are all paralyzed by an over-bearing system of laws.

Some people just do things for the fun of it. Just remember that you are better than them because you have the mind power to rise above it. These people are childish and you don't need them. Find yourself a few respecting friends and keep your head up - you'll be fine.
Smile - it makes people wonder what you're up to!!!

Are you in a perpetually negative environment such as a workplace where everyone is rude? Birds of a feather tend to flock together as they saying goes. Maybe try hanging around different people, changing jobs, going to church or hooking up with groups of people that share your interest to find more happy, positive, people.

By being nice to them your being a good influence. Maybe not to them but to someone else. You never who is watching your life and looks up to you. If it is because your ugly, differ race, religon, etc. Your proving them wrong by acting nice to them because if they hate say black people because they are mean. If your black then your proving said racist wrong of that. To say something as foolish and bold as all black people are mean, that is called an absolute statement. You would have to know every balck person in the WORLD. That was just an example by the way i don't what race you are! lol.
It's hard to fight someone who refuses to fight back.

Social grace sometimes is a matter of projection. So if you smile, they'll give you the same type of smile that they see from you. You have to check also literally your looks and your ways in the mirror and do the right thing. And the right thing for you is what makes you feel good.
