TOday i go to the obgyn for my first prenatal visist im 5 weeks but my hcg level shows 6 weaks, i remember vagually that the doc does a breast check. do they still do this on first visit? i am really funny about my breasts im so sensitive there and i dont want the doctor seeing them, if its mandatory can i "refuse" I am too embarrased to call the office. This doctor delivered my 7 yo son but im still embarrased!

Miss Sunshine, why is there always One in the bunch that has to be negative, you were the only one.. well when i was sexually asaulted i was cut across my chest and i have a huge scar, my husband it the only one that has seen my breast exept for the plastic surgeon and doc but i was only 16 y/o im 30 now.

you can refuse to have any treatment, but some are really good to get for the pregnancy. on the first visit they check your weight, blood pressure, measure your stomach, usually do a pap smear, and order or do blood work. im also very weird about docs who i barely know seeing me naked but its only for a few mins. its usually not that bad. its soooo ackward though!! good luck and congrats : )

I just had a baby 1 month ago and I went to probably like 10-15 ob visits and not once did they ever examine my breasts. The ob doctors are there about the baby and will only focus on your belly and your lower half lol. But they should leave your breasts alone. When you have the baby at the hostpital you'll have lots of nurses coming in trying to help you breastfeed and if you're uncomfortable about that then you can refuse the help.

You do have the right to refuse any treatment that you want to. But keep in mind the doctor has the right to refuse to see you, also. Something little like a breast exam, they probably won't mind if you refuse. Just tell them you are embarassed and that it is a concern for you that you don't want them to be examined. They usually do a vaginal exam, breast exam and some blood work at the first visit. Then they give you vtamins, weigh you, etc. Good luck, you'll do fine!

I'm 12 weeks pregnant with my 2nd. Yes, they will do a breast exam which is no big deal (at least with my female doctor). She didn't remove my gown completely, she just pressed the sides while we were talking and was done in a few seconds. I hadn't had a pap in a long time, so I had one of those and had lab/blood work done. My doctor had surgery so I went back not that long ago for the ultrasound and test results (all good). Don't worry, you'll get used to it all over again.

Oh dear, if you are embarrased by that then you will really have to "man up" to get through this! They will do a pap smear and blood work, normally a quick breast exam is involved with the pap smear. You will have lots of "checks" toward the end of your pregnancy, as well as a vaginal u/s if he wants to date the pregnancy early on. Lets not forget the quick and painless vaginal and rectal swab for group b strep at the end of pregnancy- don't sweat it, they see boobs every single day. I promise, it will all be so worth it!!!!!!! Good luck, and don't sweat it- I went to my first ob appt. with nasty razor burn, I was totally embarrased.

Yes they do check your breast, give you a blood test, check your urine for sugar. You can tell the doc that you are uncomfortable with the breast checking, but it is good to get cause you never know what they might find

well on your first visit they usalluy give you a pap smear and a breast exam i really don't know if you can rufuse it or not you can ask..... then some doctors will want to do a ultrasound for complete dates
