major factor in the Iraq war? While the US Iraq study group stated that the Israeli-Arab conflict had to be resolved before there can be an resolution/peace in Iraq or the Mideast.

I wonder why both groups omit something that is so obvious to ending & winning the war in Iraq?

That is strange. It is strange that liberals have become so anti-Jew as well. Kind of hateful if you ask me.

What US Iraq study group came up with that conclusion? I'd find it strange if they found a connection between israel and Iraq. The Palistinian Israeli conflict was going on long before Saddam invaded Kuwait. Israel has not put any troops in Iraq. So---- What makes you (or anyone with an IQ higher than 40) think Israel is even a player in the Iraq conflict.

If Israel and Palestine made peace today it would make no change in Iraq. It would set a good example of how in the end blowing up people because they are of a different group is futile. But examples are useless unless followed.

Settling the Israeli situation won't end the war in Iraq, although it could help. For those of you who don't know: Iraq's current government and a vast majority of its citizens still detest Israel. I think the US tolerates this, even though we are such good allies with Israel, because we understand why and we can't expect them to change their minds overnight. The Israeli situation is probably worse than the Iraq war in terms of solving it. Israel might not resolve its conflicts with its neighbors, but that doesn't mean that Iraq can't be resolved.

No, its not strange at all because Israel is not a major factor in the Iraq war or even a minor factor.

Because the Israeli lobby is so strong in the U.S., perhaps.

True story: last week, I was in a drive-up line at a burger place, waiting to place my order. In front of me was an SUV with a large bumper sticker on the back. The sticker was a flag of Israel, with the words, "I Support Israel" beneath the flag. The guy saw me looking at the bumper sticker, so I yelled, "Where's the American flag? Don't you support the U.S.?"

He gave me the middle finger salute.

Yeah.

What? Listen, this stupid war is convoluted enough with the President constantly changing the reason for being there, and final goals for victory. Was it WMD's, or Al Qaeda? Don't go throwing another unrelated concept into the mix too, that's just ridiculous. Israel has absolutely nothing to do with the Iraqi Civil War.

This is part of the problem, without question. Basically, most middle eastern states want to annihilate Israel, and, it is a topic hushed for diplomatic reasons...
